Apply Now for the De Soto Queen’s Court

The Hernando de Soto Historical Society is excited to announce that applications are now open for the prestigious De Soto Queen’s Court!
For over 70 years, this beloved tradition has celebrated the remarkable achievements, leadership, and community spirit of young women in Manatee County.
If you are passionate about history, community involvement, and want to represent a legacy of honor and heritage, this is your opportunity!

👑 Meet the Current Royalty: A Legacy of Excellence

Queen Madyson Carol Greeman and Princess Jordan Ashley Rowland beautifully represent the heart of the De Soto Queen’s Court.

Madyson is the 19-year-old daughter of Douglas and Rita Greeman. She is a 2024 graduate of Parrish Community High School, where she served as senior class president, a member of the varsity cheer team, track and field team, National Honor Society, Junior Advisory Board, and editor of the school newspaper. She was nominated for a Golden Herald Award in Journalism and currently attends the University of Central Florida, pursuing a degree in Journalism.

Jordan is the 18-year-old daughter of Steve and Robin Rowland. She graduated from Bradenton Christian School in 2024, where she was active in National Honor Society and Key Club. She now attends the University of Florida, majoring in Business with a concentration in Law. Jordan actively serves her community through ministry groups, Cotillion Club, and Keep Manatee Beautiful. Her hobbies include reading, going to the gym, and playing pickleball and volleyball with her church youth groups.

Together, Madyson and Jordan embody the leadership, compassion, and poise that have defined the De Soto Queen’s Court for generations. As they represent the Hernando de Soto Historical Society, these young women engage with the community, promote cultural events, and raise awareness about our region’s rich heritage — all while inspiring the next generation of leaders.

The Role of the Queen’s Court

Being a part of the Queen’s Court is much more than a title — it’s a transformative experience.
Ten outstanding young women will be selected to join the Court, each receiving a $750 scholarship and serving as a goodwill ambassador for the Hernando de Soto Historical Society.

  • Throughout the spring season, court members will:
  • Develop leadership skills and network with influential community members.
  • Mentor young Conquistadorables and engage in community-building activities.
  • Participate in parades and special events representing the Society with grace and pride.
  • Form lasting friendships and gain regional and national exposure.

The journey culminates in the highly anticipated Investiture and Coronation Ball, where two exceptional young women will be crowned Queen and Princess.
This isn’t just about wearing a crown — it’s about becoming a part of a historic legacy.

The Legacy Continues: A Tradition of Empowerment

Since 1941, the De Soto Queen has been chosen each spring to serve as a community ambassador, representing the Hernando de Soto Historical Society in Manatee County, across the nation, and even in our sister city of Barcarrota, Spain.

The Queen and Princess will receive additional scholarships upon completing their reign, marking their time on the Court as both a rewarding experience and a stepping stone to future success.
